Chapter 15- His reputation

A few days ago I sat at the badge pinning ceremony for Amos at his new job. As I looked around at all the people I knew that these were the men and women who would be associated with our family through Amos's work for the next several years. My desire for my husband to be a man of good reputation amongst them was intense. As a Christian you have a greater responsibility to represent yourself well. After all we are ambassadors for Christ. (2 Cor 5:20)

Lord I pray that my husband would be 'know in the gates, as he sits among the elders of the land'. I pray that his reputation would always precede him and that others would see Christ through his behavior. Guard him from any attacks on his reputation. Let people see him as a man of God, who loves you and serves you and does not compromise his values. Let people see him of the man of integrity that he is. I pray that you would guard him from people that want to make him look him bad. Let him make good choices so that those around him can recognize him as a man of good reputation. Let him always remember that he is representing you Lord in this world, and help him to remember the standard that holds him to. Let him not be concerned with what others think of him, but be concerned with what You think of him, knowing that if he is pleasing You there is nothing anyone can justifiably bring against him.

One's reputation should definitely be valued and protected. I pray for Travis in this area consistently because in his job, he gets complaints from parents about their children not doing well in Bible class. I have read the material Travis gives his students, it’s not simple...I’ll sleep thru class and get an "A", it's truly teaching God's word in a manner they can learn it if they dedicate time just as they would in another subject.

God is awesome, prayers work, and like God's word says "blessed are you when they revile and persecute you...for My Sake (Mathew 5:11). It was not long before God confirm to Travis to continue w/ his way of teaching and reputation of being a "strict teacher" because parents of students came before the principal and share with him that their children were learning more this year than they had in the past with other bible teachers.

The glory is to God and I thank Him for counteracting the negative situation Travis found himself in when all he heard was complaints. Because there was a point Travis felt he may need to change his style of teaching which he prayed for and was willing to do If that was God's will.

Jesus thank you for Travis desire to teach your word, and may Travis's works bear fruit in the years to come when this young generation are the shooting arrows who will prepared future generations and bring others to Christ. Amen.
