My husband has wanted to be a firefighter ever since he can remember. Even when he joined the Marine Corps. it was only to physically prepare him for becoming a firefighter. How funny that he starts a new fire job tomorrow and I read about and prayed for his purpose today. As far as a profession goes, Amos feels he is right where he is supposed to be. God has done great things and in perfect timing for all the experience Amos has acquired over these last few years. He feels this department he is starting with tomorrow will be the place he retires from. My heart is happy knowing my husband feels secure in his purpose for his profession. A woman administrator for a local fire department once told me how great the need was for godly men in the fire service. There are so many lost souls and it is nice to know that my husband serves the Lord, even in his profession, and I pray that God will use him in mighty ways at his new job. There is a mighty need for godly men in every profession. We need to be praying that our husband's lights are not dim when they go out into the world.
As far as any other purpose God has for my husband, I don't know. I'm not sure Amos even thinks about what God has for him outside of his job. I'll be praying this week that the Lord would reveal any purpose to my husband that He has. I will be praying for our husbands that they would not be discouraged in their work, that God would reveal their purpose to them and that they would see past circumstance to the purpose they were created to achieve.
Lord please guide our husbands, in and toward their purpose. Let their heart be aligned with your perfect will for their lives. Thank you for the men that we love. Help us to be the kind of wives who encourage our husbands even when it is difficult, especially when it is difficult. Lord our husbands the strength they need to be everything that you created them to be. Do not let us hinder them in any way. Thank you, Father.

I have always heard that it doesn't matter what our profession is, so long as we are doing God's work. I agree with this, but I do feel that God has a perfect place for each of us, in His perfect timing, and for His perfect purpose.
The past two years have been a roller coaster for us as far as my husband's employment and him chasing after his dream to be in law enforcement. I feel that God has given him this strong desire for a reason and I can't wait to see what God has for us! My husband has applied with Border Patrol and has passed everything so far. All he has left to pass is his physical, which is tomorrow, but he is as sick as a dog right now (perfect timing)! So, please pray for him that he feels better tomorrow and is able to give his 100%. Not to mention that he has been training for this for the past month!!! Either way, I have said it before that God really uses Tony to minister to others where ever he works. So, it is out of our hands!
Lord, I pray that Tony seeks your purpose for him with all of his heart and surrenders his own desires to and for You. I pray that you may guide my husband and show him the path that you want him to take. Please help him to get to a place where his heart is content with the work he is doing. Lord, restore our patience and help me to be supportive of my husband's purpose. I pray that you may mold our husbands into men that You can use and let them be shining lights for You in this life. Thank you Lord for giving us men who love You and want to serve You.
Amen
I can't help but ponder how we readily wrap our occupations into our purpose in life. Of course, we know that purpose can be found in and outside of our jobs. But it seems to be the first thing we think of when discussing purpose - especially with men. For those who do not have the good fortune of having a clear insight or opportunity to attain what job they would enjoy most and be best at, this only adds to their pressure.
Since our marriage began, my husband and my lives have been dominated by his effort toward attaining an occupational position that he feels is meaningful and important - a job that gives him purpose, (teaching Philosophy). I completely support him in his aims and believe it makes him happy, as well as makes the world a better place a few students at a time. But, he also has recognized that other career routes exist that would have been fulfilling to him and his potential, so I'm not sure I would conclude that God preordained him to be a professor, or would be disappointed in him had he or should he choose otherwise.
I guess what I'm really saying is that maybe the most difficult thing about purpose is finding it in a situation that is not ideal. The majority of people, unfortuntaly, would not think they have the ideal job for themself, the ideal home life, the ideal social network, the ideal spiritual life... but the challenge of life is finding purpose evenso.
I pray that my husband's hard work and our sacrifices will pay off with him achieving a career that he so easily finds purpose in. But I also fervently pray for people who have to try even harder to find and make purpose in their lives.
God's good work He began in Travis is what attracted me when i first started talking to him. Travis's purpose and what he believes God's purspose for his life is: to teach God's word and make disciples. What's been an amazing journey thus far is seeing how God provides the tools, open doors, brings forth opportunities to equip Travis with He has called him to do in this life.
Travis teaches in middle/Jr High school and most of his students are at an age which they are not as thirsty for God's word, so I have seen the beattitude of Patience being developed in Travis.
Lord I pray you continue to keep Travis focus as well as the husbands of my sisters in Christ in Your perfect Will/Purpose. May you sharpen their skills, gifts and talents You have given them to work in their respective jobs with excellence and that everything they do they do it as if they are working for You.
Amen.
